Zak Younger Banks is a singer-songwriter and producer from Newcastle upon Tyne. With a diverse background in music and theatre, Zak has earned recognition for his solo project, receiving support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, Help Musicians, Ivors Academy, Generator, and The Glasshouse ICM. With roots in the traditional music scene of the North East and Scotland and strong influence from folk revival songwriters, Zak’s sound has evolved over time, with each release showcasing his exploration of new sonic territories. From high-energy synth-pop tracks to intricate guitar arrangements and layered vocal harmonies, his work is consistently defined by a distinctively heavy-hearted musicality. Appearing as producer and session guitarist on several releases and touring with multiple projects for most of his career Zak has been steadily growing recognition for his own music, and in 2024 begun development of his debut album.
