Having known each other most of their lives, Jamie Stewart and Hannah Elliott didn’t plan on starting a band. However in 2021, after years of writing songs together, they relented, decided their songs where worth sharing and snuck into the studio with producers Jake Cartwright and Karl Ziegler to record their debut EP ‘Big Town’. Their sophomore EP ‘Since July’ followed in May 2023 and marked the duo’s commitment to a nostalgic aesthetic, whimsical lyricism and a dreamy indie-pop sound. The band’s vulnerable songwriting and Hannah’s ethereal vocal puts them in the same world as contemporary indie-pop/folk acts such as Samia, Phoebe Bridgers and Alvvays. Despite this they are not afraid to reference the music of previous generations, incorporating guitar riffs reminiscent of American Football, Arab Strap inspired drum loops, Blue Nile influenced snare sounds and storytelling akin to John Prine.
The duo have been championed by Radio 1’s Maia Beth and Gemma Bradley, seen placements on Spotify editorial playlists such as ‘The Most Beautiful Songs in the World’, ‘New Music Friday’ (UK and US) and ‘Lyric Therapy’, as well as racking up millions of streams globally. They have toured the UK extensively, playing in venues such as the Usher Hall, Electric Ballroom and Islington Assembly Hall. They are set to release new music late this year.
